The Door County String Academy is a non-profit organization offering positive and professional music instruction on violin, viola, cello and string bass.

Why is the DCSA Important?

The DCSA is the only string instruction offered to residents of Door County. Door County Public Schools do not offer orchestra in their curriculum. Therefore, DCSA fills this crucial need for string instruction and provides all children ages 8-18 the opportunity to take lessons on the violin, viola, cello or string bass. Students attend Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, and Algoma Schools or home school and are grouped into levels based on years of study and ability. While studying a string instrument, academy students play classical, fiddle, and contemporary style music while learning the fundamentals of music theory and history. Cooperative learning is stressed so students learn how to perform well with other musicians. On average the academy is expected to teach between 45-50 Door County music students annually.

DCSA offers instruction to students for just $340.00 a school year. Donations help keep these costs low so any child can afford to play a string instrument. Your generous donation will help pay for student scholarships, music, supplies, instruments, instructors, and a music room.
