Teachers

Kimberly Souther, the DCSA cello/bass specialist, is a native of Richmond, Virginia and recently relocated to Wisconsin from Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.  She received her Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University and will complete a Master’s in Music Education with emphasis in conducting this year from Shenandoah Conservatory.  Ms. Souther began her music education career as conductor and director of the Atlee High School Orchestra and Kempsville Orchestra.  Under her direction, the orchestras won top honors at several prestigious competitions and toured to Florida, Washington D.C., New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. In Virginia, Ms. Souther also served as associate director of the Hampton Roads Chamber Players, where she coached small chamber groups and conducted the HRCP chamber orchestra. 

Ms. Souther has performed professionally with the Green Bay Symphony, Williamsburg Symphonia, Richmond Philharmonic, Capriccio Strings, and Peninsula Players and will begin as cellist with the Fox Valley Symphony in the fall. She has studied with Robert Ashley, Robert McCashin, David Zerull, Elizabeth Morrow, and Jesus Castro-Balbi, and has participated in masterclasses under both Yo-Yo-Ma and Janos Starker.  Recently, Ms. Souther served as director of orchestras in Lewisville, Texas.  Ms. Souther is currently teaching a large cello and piano studio in Door County and Green Bay and resides in Sturgeon Bay with husband Shannon, daughter Madeleine and son Will.

  

 

Bruce Bowers, Bruce has played violin since the age of three and is a former student of Darlene Bentz. During that time, he scored well at local and state competitions and played with the Green Bay Youth Orchestras. Bruce went on to receive Suzuki teacher training at the Chicago Suzuki Institute and returned to the Green Bay Suzuki Music Academy as a full-time violin teacher in 2004.  In addition to teaching, Bruce performs as a freelance event soloist and also plays with the Green Bay Symphony.  Bruce was assistant concert master for the Green Bay Civic Symphony and principal 2nd violin with the Manitowoc Symphony.  Bruce focuses on technique and patience for a solid foundation for his students.
