Door County String Academy

Welcome to Our Academy!

The Door County String Academy offers positive and professional music instruction on violin, viola, cello and string bass.

While learning how to play the violin, viola, cello or string bass, students learn the fundamentals of music theory, composition and music history. The Door County String Academy teaches students to work well together and instruction is kept positive and professional.

 Mission Statement:

The Door County String Academy is dedicated to providing our community with positive quality violin, viola, cello and string bass education for Door County youth that honors the potential in every child and supports the skills necessary for lifelong learning.

HISTORY

The Peninsula Music Festival originally founded the Door County String Academy in 1996, and it was known as the “Peninsula Music Festival Youth String Program.”

In the spring of 2008, the string program became a stand-alone non-profit organization. Over the past 15 years, hundreds of Door County children have benefited by learning to play stringed instruments and participate in ensemble performances.
